Spring is a great time to sell a house, but it is also a great time to freshen up the outside of your house even if you are not moving. Typically we think about spring gardens and landscaping. Lawns start to grow faster with more sunlight and warmth. Trees and shrubs begin to leaf out. We have already seen the daffodils bloom. So much color, so much new life.
It’s also a good time to take inventory of your home’s exterior to see what the winter has done and left you. Make a list of annual repairs to attend to before the rain comes back next fall. Some items are simple fixes but others may have a longer lead time depending on what you choose to do.
Some of the items that should be on your annual review list:
Roof and gutter systems.
Drainage
Windows and doors (screens too)
Siding, which could need painting or could mean replacement.
Inside it's a good time to replace air filters and have an A/C tune up.
Check batteries in smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
